TransAfrica Forum is one of the nation's leading African-American
global justice centers focusing on Africa, the Caribbean,
and Latin America. The organization sponsors seminars,
conferences, public awareness projects, and advocacy
campaigns.
With the ascendance of new leadership in
2001, TransAfrica Forum embraced a pivotal moment in its distinguished
20-year history. Incoming President Bill Fletcher Jr. and Board
Chairperson Danny Glover engaged McKinney & Associates
to provide strategic communications counsel, media outreach,
and identity refinement.
A gala reception to honor outgoing leadership
provided the backdrop for McKPR to publicize TransAfricaís
leadership transition. The firm promoted the event, and
then set about discerning the leadershipís focus,
priorities, and goals.
TransAfrica retained McKPR to provide a full range of public relations services to support its public education campaigns, special events and initiatives.
As a result, the organization has been featured in major
news outlets, including the Washington Post, New York Times,
USA Today and Associated
Press. Fletcher and Glover have made appearances on broadcast outlets reaching
varied audiences, including NPR's The Tavis Smiley Show,
PBS's NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and the nationally-syndicated Tom
Joyner Morning Show.
In addition, the firm has facilitated a syndicated column
for Fletcher that is carried biweekly in scores of African-American newspapers
across the country.
