Our Story
It began in October 1990 with two former
journalists in a Washington, DC church basement. The tools
of the trade were an IBM Selectric II typewriter, two AT&T
single-line telephones, a clunky Kapro computer,
and more moxie than start-up capital. The foundation of McKinney & Associates
rests on humble but solid ground.
The woman-owned business was founded and
sustained by people who honed their communications skills
by promoting initiatives they could embrace whole-heartedly.
Since the beginning, McKPR resolved to practice "public relations with
a conscience."
Sounds idealistic, but it provides our customers with a practical
advantage:
The McKPR Advantage. We've built our reputation
as knowledgeable and committed advocates for the issues our clients
advance.
Gwen

targeting African Americans. In addition, her syndicated
columns were distributed by the National Newspaper Publishers
Association - the umbrella organization for the nation's
black press.

to national public policy advocacy. The wide range of successful
communications campaigns she has planned and executed

women's rights and reproductive health. An astute strategic
planner, Gwen serves as a trusted advisor to many of
the nation's most influential civil rights leaders.
