Government Capabilities

McKinney & Associates is a woman-owned small business focused on developing strategic, creative consumer communication and outreach programs for government agencies, civil rights organizations and public foundations.

Specializations

The McKinney team has a diverse background in public relations, journalism, marketing, strategic planning, crisis communications, grassroots advocacy and digital media. Drawing from these areas, the firm has developed an innovative results-oriented process based on four steps—Investigate: ask the right questions; Create: identify the tools and techniques for communicating and engaging with your target audiences; Communicate: skillfully select words and images to create a message that garners support for an issue, changes behavior or increases understanding and Motivate & Educate: effective communications yields results.

Past Government Clients

Expertise

McKinney’s expertise is in public education and outreach. For the past 20 years, the firm has created sustained messaging campaigns for key stakeholders and underrepresented populations, reaching diverse audiences and creating unlikely partnerships along the way. Fully committed to the belief that greater public awareness leads to better outcomes, McKinney fuses classic grass roots advocacy with the latest marketing tools for maximum impact. McKinney guarantees consistent and accurate project management, administration, tracking, assessment, debriefing, reporting and evaluation of all communications activities.

Past Experience

McKinney & Associates has successfully partnered with local, state and federal government in campaigns to educate and engage the public. The firm’s past collaborations with government agencies include campaigns that ranged from internal communications outreach to widespread efforts to engage underserved communities in garnering better health outcomes for mothers and children.

McKinney’s commitment to social justice and more than two decades of experience advancing the stories and voices of underrepresented groups make us uniquely qualified to conduct constituency messaging, outreach and engagement. This expertise allowed us to plan and launch the first-ever study of African Americans and the links between hypertension and kidney disease for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

McKinney developed a creative consumer education plan for USDA’s Briefing on the 2002 Farm Bill to ensure high customer attendance and media coverage. The firm compiled a list of more than 400 community distribution points in the target area and developed and disseminated publicity materials including news releases, calendar listings, public service announcements and flyers to key media.
