WASHINGTON – The National Commission on the Voting Rights Act, an initiative of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law will hold a hearing to examine the degree of racial discrimination in voting and the impact of the Voting Rights Act since 1982.
Attorneys, experts, advocates and voters with first-hand experiences will give testimony to the Commissioners. The impact of the Voting Rights Act in the western region will be explored by panelists from leading civil rights organizations, elected officials, and local activists.
